Box Score New Castle, Del. - (12/16/2015) – Out scored 359-178 in first halves this season, another slow start at Wilmington University left Chestnut Hill College in a 41-25 halftime lurch for the conclusion of this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. It took the resilience the Griffins could muster to reverse the 17-point lead, doing so early in the fourth quarter only to fatigue in a 70-64 league final. Freshman forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) contributed her best collegiate performance to date with a dominating 23-point, 17-rebound effort that headlined 62 points of production from the Griffins' starting five.

Mired behind a 28.6% (10-of-35) first-half shooting performance, Chestnut Hill College (3-6, 1-3) netted 17 points in the first quarter and only eight points in the second quarter. Meanwhile, Wilmington University (7-5, 2-2) thrived behind a balanced team effort that established a 21-17 lead at the end of the first quarter, which grew to double digits, 28-17, with 8:35 to play in the first half, and to as many as 17 points, 38-21, just five minutes later (3:26). Wildgoose was the Griffins' enduring force as the first-year post single handedly returned the deficit to 13 points by halftime, 38-25, and spirited a 21-8 run that reduced the margin to seven points, 56-49, by the end of the third frame. A three-point play by freshman point guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.) completed the task, briefly giving the Griffins a 59-58 advantage with 5:56 remaining in the contest. Junior guard Shanique Graves (Newark, N.J.) was the difference maker for the Wildcats, totaling four points, two rebounds, and a pair of steals down the stretch.

Graves totaled eight points, seven rebounds, four assists, and five of the Wildcats' 11 steals. With ten players contributing their scoring, only two finished in double figures. Senior forward Lindsay Bradford (Gwynn Oak, Md.) was one of them with ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. Freshman guard Marcy Robinson (Wilmington, Del.) was the other, also scoring ten points while recording three rebounds, three assists, a block, and a steal. Freshman center Jordan Hawkins (Glen Burnie, Md.) contributed seven points, 12 rebounds, an assist, and three blocks.

As it turned out, Wildgoose was one of two Griffins to finish with a double-double as junior guard Brittany McDonough (Brooklyn, N.Y.) supported her impressive performance with the first twin-killing, 14 points and ten rebounds, of her collegiate career. Wildgoose did her damage in the paint and at the free throw line as she added nine free throws (9-of-14, .643) to seven field goals (7-of-19, .368). She got some help on the glass from junior forward Lauren Milligan (South Hampton, England) who finished the contest with six points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and two blocks. Junior forward Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, N.Y.) was the third Griffin in double digits with 10 points and the Griffins' only two (2-of-5, .400) three-point baskets (2-of-17, .118).

The women's basketball team uses the semester break for trip to Albany, New York, where they will face Franklin Pierce University and host, the College of St. Rose in a Holiday Tournament. The Griffins tip-off first versus the Ravens in a 3:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, December 19.
