Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, N.Y.) hit the Griffins' first shot, a three-point basket that tied the contests at 3-3 early in the first quarter (9:23). But Chestnut Hill College (3-3) missed their next 10 shots to fall behind Mercy College (2-5) by 11, 16-5, with 3:25 remaining. Another Kuhnen three-pointer knocked the deficit to six points, 21-15, with 36 seconds (0:36) on the first-quarter clock, but a Maverick three-point play pushed their advantage to nine points, 24-15, by the end of the frame.
Mercy College returned their lead to double digits in the opening minutes of the second quarter, 28-18 (8:05), and kept their distance as the Griffins shot 28.6% (10-of-35) in the first half and 29.3% (12-of-41) in the second half. The effort erased a 53-48 rebounding edge and a 19-22 turnover advantage, allowing the Mavericks to lead by as many as 22 points, 63-41, at the end of the third quarter.
The Mavericks held a 43.9%-28.9% shooting advantage and put five players in double figures. An 18-point, 14-rebound double-double from senior forward Deasia Goodson (Freeport, N.Y.) anchored the home effort. She also recorded three assists, five blocks, and two steals. In addition to Goodson, freshman forward Cynthia Perez (Middle Village, N.Y) totaled 14 points and sophomore forward DaMonae Hargrove (White Plains, N.Y.) scored 11 points, while junior guard Paxton Reddington (Holmdel, N.J.) and sophomore forward Latisha Clark (Peekskill, N.Y.) contributed ten points apiece.
Milligan's double-double came with a block and three steals. Kuhnen compliment her two-way play with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a steal while freshman forward
Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) offered 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and a steal. McIntosh came off the bench for career-high 11 points. She added five rebounds, an assist, and four steals to her second double digit game of the season
The Griffins resume their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with their next road game; a 6:00 p.m. tip-off is scheduled at Goldey-Beacom College on Tuesday, December 8.
