Box Score Waterbury, Conn. - (4/25/2015) – A slow start proved detrimental to the Griffins success today as a 4-1 first-quarter edge propelled Post University to an 8-7 win the 2015 season finale for men's lacrosse. Chestnut Hill College netted the game's first goal on an unassisted effort from freshman attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.), but the Eagles took over the frame with a four goal run that led them to a 6-5 halftime advantage and eventual victory. Klusaritz finished with a team-high three goals including his game-opener and game-tying goal just 2:39 (12:21) into the fourth quarter.

Following Post University's (6-8) first-quarter dominance the Eagles added to their early lead with the first goal of the second frame, 5-1 at 11:45. But less than a minute later, sophomore attack Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.) kick started the Chestnut Hill College (6-7) offense with an unassisted score that cut the deficit to 5-2 with 10:48 remaining. Just 13 seconds after that Klusaritz registered his second goal to lighten the load a little more, 5-3 (10:35). The Eagles interrupted the rally with a goal at 8:13, 6-3, but two more unassisted goals from Dambach (6:49) and senior defenseman Frank Berry III (Mission Viejo, Calif.) (1:57) left the Griffins in the mix at halftime, 6-5.

After intermission, senior midfielder Christopher Mertens (Freeport, N.Y.) briefly tied the contest at 6-6 when he completed a pass from sophomore midfielder Justin Albarran (Freehold, N.J.) at the 11-minute mark (11:00). The tie score held for nearly eight minutes as the Eagles regained the edge with a goal at 3:21, 7-6. Klusaritz provided the Griffin answer at 12:21 of the fourth quarter, 7-7, but the early tally left too much time on the clock in an 8-7 Eagle decision.

Three Eagles scored twice and two others once apiece, sophomore attack Kyle Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) was one of the former with his second score serving as the game-winner at 3:18 on the fourth quarter. In the Eagle backfield, freshman defenseman Mike Brumber (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Matt Edwin (Stamford, Conn.) split six caused turnovers, limiting the Griffin attack. Senior goalkeeper Anthony DeRosa (Toms River, N.J.) earned the win with 18 saves over the opening 56:45, but junior goalkeeper Rob Rohan (East Islip, N.Y.) made the only save he needed to in order to preserve the victory in the final 3:15.

Klusartiz added a ground ball and a caused turnover to his third straight game of three goals or more. Dambach recovered three ground balls in addition to his two goal effort while Berry captained the Griffins defensive effort with junior Derick Darnulc (Baldwin, N.Y.). Berry controlled five ground balls and caused a turnover while Darnulc hustled to five ground balls and caused three turnovers. Freshman midfielder won a majority of his face-offs for the second time this year with eight ground balls on a 15-of-19 (.789) performance in the circle. In goal, sophomore Thomas McDermott (Holmes, Pa.) totaled 11 saves and three ground balls in the loss (6-7).

Chestnut Hill College ends the 2015 season a 6-7 overall and 4-4 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play.
