After forcing a three-and-out from Princeton University (0-1) on the game's opening drive, Chestnut Hill College (1-0) gave the red-clad contingent a glimpse of what was to come on its first possession. Set up at the Tigers' 22-yard line after the snap sailed over the punter's head and was downed for a loss of 23, the Griffins opened the fireworks with an eight-yard connection from freshman quarterback
Reginald Robinson Jr. (Germantown, Md.) to sophomore wideout
Josean Perez (Bethlehem, Pa.), handing the home side a 7-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest (10:37).
The teams traded punts until Griffins sophomore
Kadeem Pankey (Easton, Pa.) stepped in front of a pass by Princeton University junior quarterback Chad Cowden (Boonsboro, Md.), the first of four interceptions for Chestnut Hill College on the day. That put the scarlet and gold in business on the Tigers' 33, and freshman
Theophilus McBurnette (Ketchikan, Alaska) needed just two carries to find pay dirt; his 12-yard rumble delivered a 14-0 advantage with 2:34 to play in the opening frame.
Seeking its first victory since 2005 (the Tigers have lost 102 consecutive varsity sprint football contests), Princeton University came right back with a 32-yard hook-up from Cowden to sophomore Tyler Kaye (New York, N.Y.), 14-7 (1:42), but Robinson promptly guided the Griffins on an eight-play, 75-yard march capped by an 11-yard scoring toss to sophomore receiver
Domoree Hill (Bethlehem, Pa.) that made it 21-7 early in the second quarter (12:35). Chestnut Hill College took total control late in the half, when its defense stacked up Cowden on a 4
th-and-1 from the Griffin 35. Two plays later, Robinson hit Hill in stride for a picture-perfect 58-yard bomb that handed the hosts a 28-7 bulge just 23 seconds before halftime, and the rout was on.

Chestnut Hill College found the end zone on each of its first two third-quarter drives. The first traversed 65 yards in just four plays, the last an electrifying 41-yard touchdown scamper by freshman running back
Dasantae Callis (Folsom, Pa.), who weaved his way through the Tiger defense for a jaw-dropping sequence. Two plays after a Princeton University three-and-out, Robinson found rookie receiver
Raevon Floyd-Bennett (Union City, N.J.) for a 34-yard gain down to the Tiger 8, and McBurnette took it from there, powering his way in for his second touchdown of the day and a 41-7 lead (10:18).
Senior running back
Kevin Taylor (Burlington, N.J.) scored on a three-yard burst early in the fourth quarter (11:58) before a late Princeton University touchdown provided the final margin.
Cowden finished 11-of-23 for 163 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers, but was picked off by Pankey, Floyd-Bennett, and freshman
Marquis Watson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and never found a comfort zone. Kaye caught six balls for a 110 yards and a score, but Princeton University was held to just 67 yards rushing on 40 attempts.

The Griffins, meanwhile, hit on all cylinders in their historic opener. Robinson proved deadly through the air, completing 11 of 18 passes (61.1%) for 192 yards and three touchdowns and rushing three times for 27 yards. Two of them went to Hill, who collected six receptions for a game-high 111 yards. Callis was especially effective at the head of the ground attack, churning his legs to the tune of 127 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, an average of 9.1 yards per rush. McBurnette rushed for 57 yards and the two scores for the Griffins, who racked up 244 yards on the ground and 436 total. Chestnut Hill College converted all three of its fourth downs and all five of its red-zone opportunities.
