1/3/2016 5:58:00 PM

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (1/3/2016) – After a three pointer from junior forward Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, N.Y.) to start the second half, Holy Family University embarked on a 27-12 run to the final buzzer. Triggered by the defense, the Tiger avalanche established a ten-point deficit, 47-37, with 3:06 remaining in the third quarter and overshadowed a record performance by Kuhnen who went for a career-high 27 points with a program best seven three-point baskets in today's 71-57 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) final.

As Holy Family University (9-5, 4-1) grew their advantage to double digits in the third quarter, sophomore guard Kelly Giedemann (Turnersville, N.J.) ensured Chestnut Hill College was left well in the rear view. She stole the ball on three straight possessions, increasing the Tiger lead to 14 points, 51-37, with 2:40 remaining in the frame and helping them keep the margin at 15 points, 55-40, by the end of the period. Chestnut Hill College (3-9, 1-4) never recovered, allowing the Tigers to expand the deficit to 22 points, 70-48 (4:12), before the action settled on a 14-point spread, 71-57.

The free throw line was in frequent use, which helped the Griffins stay in it early (6-of-12, .500). In the first half, the Tigers shared the ball, balancing their attack behind seven points and four rebounds from senior center Kasey Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J.). Kuhnen was her counterpart, hitting 3-of-4 (.750) from long range (nine points) while grabbing three rebounds.

Woetzel finished with 11 points as one of five Tigers in double figures. She completed her double-double with a team-high 11 rebounds while junior forward Abigail Iannotti (North Bennington, Vt.) led the streak with 13 points. She also grabbed eight rebounds. Giedemann's sister, starting sophomore guard Kylie Giedemann (Turnersville, N.J.), offered ten points, three rebounds, three assists, a block, and a steal. Kelly finished with 11 points, three rebounds, and her three poignant steals. Senior guard Erin Fenningham (Philadelphia, Pa.) was the fifth double digit scorer with 12 points. She also recorded six rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

Kuhnen hit a record, seven three pointers on only 11 attempts (7-of-11, .636). She totaled a career-high 27 points while recording six rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal. Junior guard Brittany McDonough (Brooklyn, N.Y.) helped Kuhnen generate the offense with five assists, while sophomore forward Nicole Parriski (Burlington, N.J.) was the defensive captain, contributing eight points, ten rebounds, an assist, four blocks, and a steal.

The Chestnut Hill College women's basketball team returns to the road in search of a win. They head to Post University on Wednesday, January 6, for a 2:00 p.m. CACC contest.
