West Point, N.Y. - (2/10/2016) – Already suffering from football withdrawal? Well we have your cure. Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) Commissioner Gene McIntyre has officially announced the 2016 season schedule. The intensity will begin the weekend of September 16-17 as Chestnut Hill College is slated to open the season at Army, versus the defending CSFL Champion.
After traveling to West Point, New York, for Week 1, the Scarlet and Gold will take a week off before hosting Cornell University in the home opener on the weekend of September 30 – October 1. Week 4 (October 7-8) places Chestnut Hill College at Post University, opposite the Eagles for the second annual Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Bowl. The Griffins took the initial meeting of the CACC rivals, scoring eight points in the final 1:44 to end up on the top side of a 24-21 seesaw final.
After visiting the Eagles, the Griffins visits the United States Naval Academy for a Week 5 (October 14-15) matchup with Navy. The Midshipmen were runner-up in 2015, offering the league's second-leading quarterback in senior Nick Deterding (Lindsborg, Kan.). Week 6 (October 21-22) brings Chestnut Hill College home to host the University of Pennsylvania. The Griffins scrimmaged the Quakers in 2015 but will square off versus their city rival for the first time in 2016.
Week 7 (October 28-29) sends the Griffins to Franklin Pierce University, before Week 8 (November 4-5) returns Chestnut Hill College to Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium for a season finale opposite Mansfield University. The Ravens and Mountaineers handed the Griffins their only two losses of the inaugural 2015 season. With the full year under their belts, the Scarlet and Gold will look for revenge in their final two games of 2016.
