Milligan Double-Double Headlines Griffins’ Playoff Effort at Bloomfield College

Box Score Bloomfield, N.J. - (2/27/2016) – A near replication of the regular-season meeting, today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Opening Round contest at #1N Bloomfield College that ended in the Bears' favor, 64-48, with the home team seizing an 18-13 first-quarter advantage before leading #4S Chestnut Hill College 31-23 at halftime. Junior forward Lauren Milligan (South Hampton, England) led the Griffins with a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double that was complimented by double-digit performances from freshman forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) and junior guard Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, N.Y.).
 
Kuhnen kept Chestnut Hill College (12-15, 10-9) ahead early, scoring six first-quarter points to help push the Griffins to a six-point, 11-6, advantage on a jumper from freshman guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.) with 4:15 remaining in the frame. Chyna Golden (Neptune, N.J.) was the forced behind the sea change as the Bears' senior forward spirited a 12-2 run to the quarter break, 18-13. In the second quarter, the deficit expanded to 12 points, 29-17, before the Griffins trimmed the halftime margin to eight points, 31-23.
 
Following intermission, an even-played third quarter left the spread at 46-36 heading to the final 10-minute period. There, a series of plays by senior forward Iman Williams (Shreveport, La.) ballooned the Bear lead to 16 points, 60-44, just past the four-minute mark (3:50). Unfortunately, the difference proved insurmountable as it remained at 16 points, 64-48, when the final buzzer sound.
 
Golden finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds. She also recorded three rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Tiana Smith (Spring Valley, N.Y.) led the Bears in scoring with 17 points while senior guard Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake, Va.) contributed 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and a block.
 
Milligan added a block and a steal to her sixth double-double of the season. Wildgoose and Kuhnen both finished with a dozen (12) points and six rebounds. Sophomore forward Nicole Parriski (Burlington, N.J.) spelled the Chestnut Hill College starting unit with six points, five rebounds, an assist, and a block.
 
The Scarlet and Gold finishes the 2015-2016 season, their first under Head Coach Mike West, with a program-best 12-15 overall record and a 10-9 CACC standing.
