Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (2/6/2016) – Winners of their last three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contests, Chestnut Hill College fell victim to a more productive Caldwell University squad in a fast-paced contest that ended in the Cougars' favor, 85-65. Caldwell University (17-7, 12-3) forged their advantage early, establishing an eight-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 27-19, and doubling the difference to 16 points, 46-30, by halftime. Sophomore guard Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, N.Y.) was their weapon of choice, shooting 7-of-13 (.538), with two three pointers (2-of-3, .667), and a free throw (1-of-2, .500) to net 17 points at the game's midway point. Countering her efforts was Trossi, who worked her way to the basket for nine points in the opening half.
Despite a 50% (14-of-28, .500) shooting effort in the second half, Chestnut Hill College (9-12, 7-7) was not able to close the gap. In fact, the Cougars advanced their lead to as many as 20 points, 58-38, just before the three-minute mark (3:06) of the third quarter and maxed out their lead at 22 points, 77-55, with 5:37 remaining in the fourth quarter. Wildgoose recorded 13 of her 21 points in the second half, but it was not enough to derail the Cougars, who eventually captured a 20-point victory, 85-65.
Senior guard Nicole Angelo (Mount Laurel, N.J.) served as the Cougars' leading scorer with 21 points. After her outstanding first half, Drogsler finished the affair with 19 points, eight rebounds, an assist, a block, and three steals. Junior guard Antoinette Pilla (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Karlie O'Driscoll (Sharon, Mass.) each provided 12 points while sophomore guard Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.) was the fifth Cougar starter in double figures with 10 points. She also recorded seven assists and a steal.
Wildgoose was efficient (10-of-15, .667) in her second 20-point performance of the season, adding a free throw (1-of-1, 1.000) to make it 21 points in all. She also recorded a team-high eight rebounds and an assist. Trossi totaled 13 points while contributing five rebounds and four assists. Kuhnen finished with 12 points in addition to three rebounds, two assists, and a block.
The Chestnut Hill College women's basketball team continue the last-leg of their CACC schedule on Tuesday, February 9, when they welcome Wilmington University to campus for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
