Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (2/9/2016) – Continuing to run their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponents ragged, the high-paced Griffins earned tonight's league win over Wilmington University at the free throw line as the 10-point final spread, 85-75, matched the difference at the charity stripe. Chestnut Hill College hit 27-of-36 (.750) at the free throw line, spreading the effort along the roster and placing four players in double figures. Junior guard Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, N.Y.) led the way with 22 points while junior forward Lauren Milligan (South Hampton, England) offered her fourth double-double of the season, and third in her last five games, with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

In a first half of non-stop action, Chestnut Hill College (10-12, 8-7) emerged in control of the contest, posting a 30-17 first quarter edge and a 52-28 halftime advantage. Kuhnen was the weapon of choice early as she sunk 3-of-4 (.750) from long range and made all three of her foul shots (3-of-3, 1.000) to total a dozen points (12 points) in the opening quarter. Junior guard Brittany McDonough (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.) made sure to find her and the rest Scarlet and Gold for open shots as the Griffins shot 10-of-18 (.556) from the floor and 4-of-6 (.667) from three-point range in the period. After reaching double-digits  (27-17) with 37 seconds (0:37) remaining in the first quarter, the Griffin advantage blossomed to 20 points, 45-25, on a Trossi layup with 2:28 remaining in the second quarter, and settled at 22 points for halftime, 52-28, on a last-second (0:01) layup from sophomore forward Nicole Parriski (Burlington, N.J.).

The Wilmington University revival came in the third quarter, when the Wildcat reserves made their presence felt as they rallied the visitors to within 11 points, 57-46, just past the two-minute mark (1:57). The deficit remained there at the end of the frame, 63-52, but continued to decrease as the fourth quarter began. A layup from senior forward Katara Pressley (Severn, Md.) cut it to single digits at 8:19, 64-56, and a three-pointer from freshman guard Macy Robinson (Wilmington, Del.) reduced it to just five points, 66-61, with 7:24 to play. But that is when the free throws entered the story as Chestnut Hill College hit 9-of-13 (.692) down the stretch to stall the Wildcat comeback and secure another valuable CACC South Division victory.

Five Wildcats finished in double figures. Four came off the bench as senior forward Lindsay Bradford (Gwynn Oak, Md.) led all Wildcats with 18 points, nine rebounds, six blocks, and three steals. Senior guard Tenicia Spence (Baltimore, Md.) was the only Wilmington University starter in double digits, scoring 15 points in addition to two rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Junior guard Zameria Jones (Joppa, Md.) and Robinson both finished with 11 points; the former also providing four rebounds, three assists, a block, and a steal while the latter additionally offered seven rebounds, an assists, and two steals. Senior forward Ashri Broadwater (Chicago, Ill.) contributed 10 points, a rebound, and a steal.

Kuhnen finished 5-of-10 (.500) from long range and hit all seven (7-of-7, 1.000) of her free throw attempts to finish with her fifth game of 20 point or more this season. She also recorded six rebounds and four blocks. Milligan was 4-of-13 (.308) from the field, but like Kuhnen, she provided a quality night at the free throw line, hitting 8-of-9 (.889) from the charity stripe while also contributing two assists. Trossi totaled 13 points, six assists, and a steal, while freshman forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) registered 12 points, five rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal. McDonough finished with nine points, three rebounds, a career-high seven assists, a block, and two steals.

The Griffins return to Sorgenti Arena this Saturday, February 13, when they host Dominican College for a 1:00 p.m. CACC contest.
