Andrew Dooley (Monroe Township, N.J.) scored the goal the brought Chestnut Hill College even after trailing by a 5-1 and scored the tally that forced overtime, but #12 Mercy College was first to score in the extra frame to secure a 9-8 East Coast Conference (ECC) win. He was one of three Griffins to record two scores with sophomore attack

Off the feed from junior attack
Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.), Plaia kept Chestnut Hill College (0-5, 0-2) even with Mercy College (4-1, 1-0) in the first quarter, 1-1. But the Mavericks opened the second quarter with a 4-0 run to lead the Griffins 5-1 midway through frame (7:40). Fortunately, Dambach found Klusaritz at 6:31 and Dooley found Plaia with 25 seconds (0:25) left to cut the halftime deficit to 5-3. The Scarlet and Gold momentum carried over to the second half as an opening Maverick goal was quickly overshadowed by consecutive scores by sophomore midfielder
Gerard Lyle (Baldwin, N.Y.), 6-4 at 5:16, Dambach, 6-5 at 5:06, and Dooley on the man-up at 4:32, 6-6. Freshman attack
Casey Brown (Havre de Grace, Md.) located Klusaritz for his second goal of the game, which also gave Chestnut Hill College their first lead of the contest, 7-6, with 12:57 remaining in regulation. Unfortunately, the minutes later (9:58), the Mavericks capitalized on a Griffin penalty to tie the game again at 7-7. They took a lead just before the eight-minute mark (8:01), but Dooley delivered at 2:34 to send the affair to the extra frame. There, the decision hung in the balance until freshman attack Bobby Chillianis (Bethpage, N.Y.) scored the game-winner with 1:23 remaining on the clock, 9-8.
Senior midfielders Robert Rossi (North Massapequa, N.Y.) and Kyle Stockton (Medford, N.Y.) scored two goals apiece to lead the Mavericks. Stockton also recorded two assists. Sophomore defender Ross Schnitzer (Scarsdale, N.Y.) anchored the defense with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Behind him, senior A.J. Pellati (West Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore Michael Schneider (West Babylon, N.Y.) split time; Schneider earned the win with seven saves in the final 32:06.
Dooley totaled three points in all, doubling his season total to date. Klusaritz and Plaia matched his point total, both adding an assist to two ground ball recoveries. Dambach also recorded three points with a goal and two assists. He also corralled four ground balls. Junior
