3/6/2016 4:05:00 PM

Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (3/6/2016) – Chestnut Hill College welcomed #14 Molloy College to Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium for their first East Coast Conference (ECC) contest of the season. Unfortunately, 4-1 Lion scoring runs in the first and third quarters ensured a 14-9 decision over the Griffins. The Scarlet and Gold were led by junior attack Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.), who totaled six points (four goals, two assists), while junior midfielder Jon Camposa (Syosset, N.Y.) paced the Lions' scoring with four goals.

Chestnut Hill College (0-4, 0-1) initially went ahead of Molloy College (4-0, 1-0) when junior midfielder Justin Albarran (Freehold, N.J.) spotted junior defender Daniel DePasquale (Livingston, N.J.) for a goal roughly three minutes into the game, 1-0 at 12:34. But a six-goal run by the Lions pushed the deficit to 6-1 before sophomore midfielder Brian Sinex (Holmes, Pa.) halted the streak on an unassisted goal at 11:39 of the second period, 6-2. Following a tally from Lion sophomore midfielder Casey Kelly (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), 7-2, at 8:55, Sinex went back to work, linking up with Dambach roughly 40 seconds later (8:08) for the Griffins' third goal of the day, 7-3. Just 17 seconds after that (7:51), Dambach connected with sophomore attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.) on a man-up opportunity that helped the Griffins cut the discrepancy to just three goals, 7-4, heading into intermission.

Following the break, Dambach continued to direct the Griffin game plan as he assisted freshman attack Casey Brown (Havre de Grace, Md.) on the first goal of the second half at 11:31, 7-5. Yet, the Lions sparked another run, scoring five straight goals before Dambach briefly halted the avalanche with a man-down goal at 13:16 of the fourth quarter, 12-6. The Lions answered the score less than two minutes later (13-6 at 11:40), leaving the Griffins final push in vain.

Camposa led five Lions in scoring with five points (four goals and an assist). He also collected a groundball and one caused turnover. Senior midfielder Kevin Teresky (South Huntington, N.Y.), Valenti, and Clark each reported a hat trick while Kelly scored the remaining Lion goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Toomney (Hicksville, N.Y.) secured the win (4-0) and collected eight saves.

Dambach scored twice (4:42 & 3:38) and Sinex once (2:49) in the final five minutes, but the Griffins' late rally came up short on time and tallies. Dambach collected three groundballs and attempted five shots in his six-point effort. Sinex finished with two goals and an assist while Klusaritz, Brown, and DePasquale each scored one goal for the Griffins. Junior goalkeeper Thomas McDermott (Holmes, Pa.) collected nine saves and recovered four groundballs in the losing decision (0-4).

The Chestnut Hill College men's lacrosse team continues their ECC schedule on Saturday, March 12, with a 1:00 p.m. contest at Mercy College.
