4/20/2016 9:49:00 PM

Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (4/20/2016) – After the third quarter, Chestnut Hill College had a commanding 17-4 lead over Georgian Court University. Even with five Lions goals in the fourth quarter, the unfazed Griffins were able to hang on for a 17-9 victory. Sophomore attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.) recorded career-highs in goals (6), assists (4), and points (10), while fellow attack, junior Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.) recorded a season-high seven points (five goals and two assists).

Chestnut Hill College (4-6) got off to a quick start with the connection from Dambach and Klusaritz for the first goal of the game at 11:01, 1-0. Roughly 45 seconds later (10:16), junior midfielder Justin Albarran (Freehold, N.J.) found Klusaritz for the second Griffin goal of the game, 2-0, before junior midfielder Andrew Dooley (Monroe Township, N.J.) delivered the Griffins third goal at 9:28, 3-0. Georgian Court University (1-12) eventually ceased the Griffins' run with two unassisted goals from freshmen, Ryder Verdoni (Farmingdale, N.J.) and Connor Houghton (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) at 7:23 (3-1) and 6:23 (3-2), respectively. But that was as close as the Lions would get with the Griffins outscoring the visitors 6-1 to intermission, 9-3.

The scoring spree continued for the Scarlet and Gold in the second half as Dambach and Klusaritz connected twice (14:39 & 10:06) to extend the advantage to eight goals, 11-3. From there, Griffins added six more tallies before junior attack Cory Boyle (Brampton, Ontario) found Houghton for the goal that stopped the streak with two seconds (0:02) remaining in the third, 17-4. Comfortable with their fourth-quarter edge, the Griffins emptied the bench in what would eventually be a 17-9 final.

Houghton led the Lions with four goals on eight shots (4-of-8, .500) while recording an assist and a groundball. Verdoni finished with three points (2 goals and 1 assist) and two groundballs, while his brother, junior midfielder Tyler Verdoni (Farmingdale, N.J.), won 17-of-30 (.567) faceoffs, recovered a game-high nine groundballs, and scored a goal. Freshman goalkeeper Logan Eisenhart (Mt. Airy, Md.) collected game-high 18 saves and picked up two groundballs in the loss (1-9).

The Griffins held a 57-38 shot advantage, forced 27 turnovers, and were flawless 20-of-20 (1.000) on clears. Klusaritz added a groundball and a caused turnover to his career night while Dambach added a caused turnover and a team-high five groundballs to his seven-point effort. Eight others recorded at least a point including senior midfielder Gabriel Straub (Nazareth, Pa.), who recorded his first collegiate point with the assist on the Griffins' 12th goal of the game (12-3 @ 8:17 of the 4th quarter). Sophomore goalkeeper Thomas McDermott (Holmes, Pa.) collected nine saves and three groundballs in the win (2-6).

The men's lacrosse team concludes their non-conference schedule on Saturday, April 23, when they welcomes Post University for a 1:00 p.m. faceoff.
