Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (4/30/2016) – Following a sterling Senior Day recognition, Chestnut Hill College and #7 New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) squared off in an East Coast Conference (ECC) finale that opened with the Bears taking a 5-1 first-quarter lead. The Bears used their advantage to secure an 8-2 halftime lead and an eventual 16-7 league win over the Griffins. The Scarlet and Gold was led by two goals apiece from junior attack Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.) and sophomore attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.); Dambach added an assist and a ground ball to his production.

NYIT (12-3, 7-1) scored the first four goals of the affair, putting Chestnut Hill College (6-7, 4-4) in comeback mode early. The scoring streak was ended with 3:38 remaining in the first quarter, when Klusaritz deposited a pass from junior midfielder Andrew Dooley (Monroe Township, N.J.) to get the Griffins on the scoreboard, 4-1. But the Bears scored once more before the end of the frame, 5-1, and outscored the Griffins 3-1 in the second quarter to hold an 8-2 advantage at halftime.

Following intermission, Chestnut Hill College narrowed the gap to five goals with a 3-2 run that included a connection between sophomore midfielder Joshua Pope (Schnecksville, Pa.) and Dooley, 9-3 (12:11) and a pair of unassisted scores from Dambach and senior attack Michael Plaia (Hicksville, N.Y.) at 7:10 (10-4) and 5:43 (10-5), respectively. Unfortunately, the third quarter ended with three straight NYIT scores, pushing the deficit to eight (13-5) before the start of the final frame. The Bear advantage endured until the final horn, leaving the Scarlet and Gold to celebrate the first collegiate goal from senior midfielder Gabriel Straub (Nazareth, Pa.) in a 16-7 defeat.

Three Bears recorded a hat trick with six others recording at least a tally. Most notable of the trio was junior midfielder Tom Hughes (Port Jefferson, N.Y.), who added three assists and a ground balls to his scoring. In goal, junior Alex Seltzer (Plainview, N.Y.) recorded 10 saves, three ground balls, and a caused turnover in the win (12-3).

Contrastingly, only three other Griffins joined Dambach and Klusartiz in the scoring column. Dooley added an assist and a ground ball to his goal while Plaia's and Straub's scores stood alone as their only contribution to the box score. Junior midfielder Joseph Pozniak (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) did all he could to help out, winning 14-of-26 (.538) face-offs and collecting 10 ground balls. Senior Drew Lamela (Brick, N.J.) and sophomore Matthew Pedrick (New Milford, N.J.) split time in the Griffins' goal. Lemela took the loss (1-1) and made one save in 21:44 minutes while Pedrick totaled 11 saves and caused a turnover in 38:16 minutes.
