The Bears stole the upper hand with a 4-0 edge in the first quarter. They pushed their advantage to 7-1 by halftime and remained ahead by seven goals, 11-4, heading to the Scarlet and Gold's fourth-quarter rush. There, freshman midfielder

Tanner Fisher (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) and
Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.) headlined the concluding 5-2 Griffin run.
NYIT (11-2, 7-0) scored their first goal of the first quarter on the man-up at 10:22, 1-0. Latter in the period three more Bear goals (5:44, 2:50, 1:04) put Chestnut Hill College (7-4, 5-2) in a 4-0 hole. The deficit grew to 7-0 by 6:29 of the second quarter with three unassisted Bear tallies. Rees broke the shutout with 1:49 remaining in the first half, 7-1, depositing a man-up goal off the feed from Fisher.
Chestnut Hill College won the second half, 8-6, but it was not enough to catch the Bears. The ECC rivals traded goals through the third quarter and the beginning of the final frame as the home side increased their position by two goals, 12-4, before the Scarlet and Gold found their offense. Junior attack Matthew Chanenchuk (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Will Kistinger (Bohemia, N.Y.) led the NYIT production. Each totaled five points; the former recorded three goals, two assists, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers, while the latter finished with two goals, three assists, and a ground ball. In front of senior Alex Seltzer (Plainview, N.Y.), senior defenseman Joe Morhardt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) headlined the Bears' backfield with five ground balls and four caused turnovers. Seltzer (11-2) played a majority of minutes (59:39), making seven saves, two ground balls, and a caused turnover.
Rees' first five-point game of the season came with two goals and three assists. Dambach finished with two goals, two assists, and three ground balls, while Fisher totaled two goals and an assist.
