ECC MEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

Chestnut Hill College (8-4, 6-2) received votes in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Nike Division II Men's Lacrosse Coaches Poll each week of the season. After the victory over the Pioneers, the first Griffins captured their second ECC win with a 17-9 home opener versus Dominican College. Riding high – with respective ECC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards bestowed on junior attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.) and senior goalkeeper Thomas McDermott (Ridley, Pa.) – Chestnut Hill College welcomed Mercy College to Victory Field #1 for a midweek ECC clash on Wednesday, March 29. The Griffins recovered from a 7-5 third-quarter deficit to force overtime with unassisted scores from – recently named team Most Valuable Player (MVP) - senior attack Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.) and classmate, Tanner Fisher (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia). But the extra frame only lasted 19 seconds (3:41) as freshman midfielder Anthony DeVito (Rocky Point, N.Y.) converted the period's only shot and ended the contest in the Mavericks' favor, 8-7.

The Scarlet and Gold used the defeat as inspiration, winning five of their last six contests, three in blowout fashion. It was another 50-point season for Dambach, which was complimented by a 30-goal season from Fisher and a balanced supporting cast that featured a 30-point season from Klusaritz, a 20-goal season from freshman Carson Rees (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia), and an x-factor in Andrew Dooley (Monroe Township, N.J.), who tied the program's single-game scoring mark with six goals in the season finale victory at Molloy College.

Senior goalkeeper Thomas McDermott (Ridley, Pa.) was a four-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week and scored the Griffins first tally by a net-minder with a long distance missile in Chestnut Hill College's win over the Pioneers. He currently ranks third in the nation for saves (138), eighth for save percentage (.603), and 24th in saves-per-game (11.5), helping the Griffins' provide the nation's fifth-ranked defense (7.9 goals allowed-per-game).
