Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) headlined this evening's play at Post University. There, Chestnut Hill College emerged from a 16-16 first-quarter tie to lead the Eagles by as many as 17 points, 83-66 (2:18 4QTR), in their fourth straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory, 84-74.
A four-point play from sophomore guard
Cailey Gibson (Marlton, N.J.) (21-16, 6:39 2QTR) established Chestnut Hill College (9-6, 5-1) as the pace setter in the affair. A Sebold three pointer found the Griffins their first double digit lead, 39-29 (2:07), late in the second quarter and the second of two free throws from senior guard
Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.) kept it there, 41-31 (1:33), before Post University (2-11, 1-6) had the last word in a 41-33 first half. The Scarlet and Gold grabbed another double digit lead, 48-38, on a three pointer from sophomore forward
Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) at 7:28, which they pushed to 13 points, 61-48 (2:29), before the Eagles reduced the difference to eight points, 66-58 (0:17), by the third-quarter break. Fourth quarter streaks saw Sebold secure Chestnut Hill College a 17-point, 83-66 (2:18), advantage and Post University respond with a fleeting 8-1 run.
Freshman guard Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, N.J.) led Post University with 15 points, but freshman forward Meaghan Gotham (Revere, Mass.) was the Eagles' top performer with 14 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, two steals. Additionally, junior guard Lauren Chambers (Lebanon, Pa.) offered 13 points, two rebounds, eight assists, and two steals, while junior guard Gabriela Middleton (Coral Springs, Fla.) contributed a dozen points.
Sebold continued her impressive reserve play, reaching a career-high in scoring (25 points) for a third consecutive contest and handing out a team-high five assists. She was hit two threes (2-of-6, .333) in a 10-of-17 (.588) shooting effort that earned her a hand full of trips to the free throw line (3-of-5, .600). Wildgoose's double-double was her eighth of the season, but it was her first to come in less than 20 minutes; recording seven points and five rebounds in seven first-half minutes, and eight points and three rebounds in nine minutes of second-half play. Tumasz was the third Griffin in double digits, providing 17 points in excess of four rebounds and an assist.
