Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (1/24/2018) – Chestnut Hill College and local rival, Jefferson University battled from beginning to end of tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup as a Griffins' game-tying three point attempt was denied in the final seconds (0:06) of a 74-71 loss to the Lady Rams. The Scarlet and Gold got five (5-of-10, .500) three point baskets from sophomore forward Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.), but junior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) captained the Griffin effort with 22 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

 

Sophomore forward Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit her second three pointer of the contest to deadlock the contest at 13-13 at the first-quarter break. Throughout the second quarter, Chestnut Hill College (12-8, 8-3) and Jefferson University (17-2, 10-1) traded leads with the Griffins leading by as many as four points, 17-13 (8:41), and trailing by as many as four points, 35-31 (0:36), late in the frame. A jumper from junior guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.) reduced the Lady Ram lead to just two points, 35-33, for halftime.
 
In the third quarter, Jefferson University began to break away from the Scarlet and Gold, grabbing a 40-35 (8:29) advantage before a three pointer from sophomore guard Cailey Gibson (Marlton, N.J.) (40-38, 7:36), a layup from senior forward Tomiaya Graham (Miami, Fla.) (42-40, 6:26), and another crucial three pointer from Glenn eventually brought the Griffins back within a point, 44-43 (5:47). From there, neither side separated by more than two points before an impressive move from Wildgoose ended the frame at a 52-52 stalemate. Both teams kept their energy high in the fourth quarter as the decision remained in flux with just six second to play. There, fouls and timeouts allowed senior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.) to bring the Griffins within one point, 72-71 (0:06) and the Lady Rams to refresh a three-point, 74-71 (0:06) advantage before Chestnut Hill College's game-tying attempt was deprived of its purpose.
 
Junior forward Erin Maher (Lansdale, Pa.) led Jefferson University with 20 points, four rebounds, and one block. Her classmate, center Beverly Kum (Hagerstown, Md.) added 17 points, five rebounds, two blocks, and two steals, while junior guard Jessica Kaminski (Philadelphia, Pa.) chipped in 14 points.

Glenn supported Wildgoose's effort with 18 points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Tumasz was the third Griffin in double figures with 12 points in addition to her four rebounds. Trossi finished with eight points, three rebounds, and seven assists.
 
During halftime of contest, the Chestnut Hill College Department of Athletics formerly recognized the 2016-2017 men's tennis team for their 2017 CACC Men's Tennis Championship – the College's first title since joining the conference and elevating to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II competition in 2007-2008. Among those present to be honored were Head Coach Ryan Gargullo, Assistant Coach Robert de Leon, sophomore Antoine Gautier (Eysines, France), junior Felix Andre (Berlin, Germany), senior captain Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil), senior Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil), and captain, Jonathan Ducretot '17.
