The Griffins (26-of-67, .388) and Clippers (26-of-79, .329) battled through a rough shooting day with the Scarlet and Gold persevering on the merit of their long range success (9-of-28, .321) and a superior effort at the free throw line (19-of-23, .826). Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.) led three Griffins in double figures with 24 points, but junior forward
Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) played a major role as well with her 10
th double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) of the season.
After the initial minutes of play, Chestnut Hill College (13-8, 9-3) paced Concordia College (3-18, 3-9) to a 20-14 first-quarter spread and an eventual 31-25 halftime split. Sophomore forward
Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Tumasz carried the load for the Griffins; the former hit a pair of three point baskets (2-of-6, .333) and three free throws (3-of-4, .750) for 11 points through the first two frames, while the latter slashed the lanes for nine points, two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
In the second half, Tumasz's aggressive play got plenty of support from Wildgoose, who reported 10 points, eight rebounds, and an assist en route to the victory. The duo took turns keeping Chestnut Hill College a step ahead during third-quarter play, 56-48. The Scarlet and Gold's real separation came in the fourth frame, where Wildgoose's work on the glass and a pair of Tumasz three pointers earned them a 15-point, 69-54 (6:04), lead. Less than two minutes later (4:30), the Griffin advantage maxed out at 18 points, 73-53, on a layup from freshman guard
Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) and only fluctuated before an 80-64 final.
Four Clippers finished in double figures; senior forward Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) stood out from the group with 12 points, 14 rebounds, an assist, and three blocks. Sophomore center Amiya Rankins (Somerset, N.J.) came off the bench to serve as Concordia College's leading scorer with 16 points. She also recorded seven rebounds and an assist.
Tumasz hit four threes (4-of-10) in a 7-of-14 (.500) shooting performance. She also hit six free throws (6-of-7, .857), recorded three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in her eight game of 20 points or more. Wildgoose needed only 22 minutes to accumulate 14 points and 10 rebounds. Glenn was the third Griffins in double figures with 14 points.
