th Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win of the season, Chestnut Hill College used another double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) from junior forward
Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) and a season-high 21 points from junior guard
Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.) to score a 75-64 win over Goldey-Beacom College. The Griffins' ability to get to the free throw line and convert was the difference in the contest as the Scarlet and Gold made 22-of-25 (.880) charity stripe attempts in comparison to the Lightning's 3-of-8 (.278) showing.
Chestnut Hill College (14-8, 10-3) spread the ball around in the first half as Trossi (8 points) penetrated, Wildgoose rebounded (9 points, 7 rebounds), and sophomore forward
Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) (8 points) connected from the outside for a 38-26 halftime advantage. After intermission, Trossi and Glenn led the Griffins' parade to the free throw line; the former hit 7-of-9 (.778) and the latter 6-of-6 (1.000) in a 19-of-21 Scarlet and Gold effort that cemented the league victory over Goldey-Beacom College (6-15, 4-8).
Senior forward Brittani Bryson (Hampton, Va.) led the Lightning with 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal. Fellow senior post, Margherita Giubelei (Cesena, Italy) matched her offensive output (15 points) while also recording three rebounds and an assist. Sophomore guard Amanda McGrogan (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) was Goldey-Beacom College's third player in double figures with 12 points in excess of her eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Trossi was 7-of-15 (.467) from the field and 7-of-10 (.700) from the free throw as the Griffins' top scorer. She complimented her scoring with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Meanwhile, Wildgoose's 11
th double-double of the season came with a steal. Glenn and senior guard
Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.) joined them in double figures and combined to hit all five (5-of-11, .455) of the Griffins' three point field goals (5-of-16, .313). Glenn paired 17 points with five rebounds and two assists, while Tumasz supplied 12 points, three rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
The Chestnut Hill College women's basketball team returns to action next Wednesday, February 7, when they host CACC South Division rival, Georgian Court University in a 6:00 p.m. Play-4-Kay event.
