Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) came off the bench to lead the Scarlet and Gold with her second straight 19-point performance.
Chestnut Hill College (9-6, 5-1 CACC) stumbled out of the gate, allowing Wilmington University (4-9, 1-3 CACC) to grab an early lead, 4-0 (8:12). A Sebold three pointer pulled the Griffins within one point, 16-15, at 2:11 and energized the Scarlet and Gold, who pushed their lead to 11 points, 28-17, by the first-quarter break. Chestnut Hill College capitalized on their second quarter free throw chances (8-of-10, .800) to gradually grow their lead to 16 points, 50-34, by halftime.
In the second half, the Wildcats needed the collaborative efforts of junior forward Nyree Grant (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.) and freshman forward Jadyn Whitsitt (Fort Washington, Md.) to challenge Chestnut Hill College. But still, the Griffin lead held at nine points, 50-41 (7:58), before a Scarlet and Gold furry that closed the third quarter on a 17-point, 71-54, margin. Grant and Whitsitt both finished with double-doubles; the former recorded 25 points and 16 rebounds, while the latter totaled 21 points and 11 rebounds. Junior guard Precious Palmer (Baltimore, Md.) chipped in 13 points.
Sebold added seven rebounds, seven assists, and two steals to her 19 points. Tumasz recorded 16 points and nine assists, while Trossi also supported in the backcourt with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals. As for the frontcourt, Wildgoose captained with 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Glenn collected 13 points, five rebounds, and six steals. Bode recorded 10 points.
