Women's Basketball Team
Box Score Rockville Centre, N.Y. – (11/10/2018) – Chestnut Hill College opened up their 2018-2019 season traveling to Molloy College to compete in the East Region Conference Challenge, squaring off against Queens College. The Griffins' slow start in the first quarter put them in a hole that they attempted to get out of the whole game. The Scarlet and Gold were within nine points of the Knights in the final quarter, but their efforts fell short losing the match 87-77. Two players hit double-digit figures for Chestnut Hill College, headlined by senior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) with 20 points, followed by a 13 point effort from freshman guard Abbey Spratt (Doylestown, Pa.).

The Griffins had a slow start only totaling six points in the first period, 27-6. Despite the sluggish moment, Chestnut Hill College (0-1) stepped up defensively in the second period, holding Queens College (1-0) to just 15-points (15-30). With guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa) leading the charge with two steals, the Scarlet and Gold were able to capitalize off of their efforts closing the margin to just six points, 42-36.

Entering the second half, Queens College had the upper-hand majority of the period despite Wildgoose recording more than half (11 points) of her total points by this time.  Queens College returned the favor holding the Griffins to 16 points. The Scarlet and Gold hit a dry spell towards end of the quarter (3:56), but at 1:04 freshman guard Morgan Orloski (Bethlehem, Pa.) broke the drought with a three pointer, going into the fourth 70-52.  Climbing from an 18 point deficit, Chestnut Hill College chipped away closing the gap to a single digit margin (83-74) with 44-seconds left in the final quarter. Unfortunately, their strides did not come quick enough ending the contest 87-77.

Queens College had three players in double-digits, leading was junior guard Beth Bonin (Cicero, N.Y.) with 23 points, followed by an 18-points performance from junior forward My'eesa Grant (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) and 16 points from senior guard Kaitlyn Mahon (Middle Village, N.Y.).

Along with Wildgoose's 20 points (5-for-9, 55.6%) she also logged six rebounds, three assists, and two blocks, while Spratt was the only other Griffin to hit double-digits (13 points), she also added one rebound and three assists.
