Box Score 2 Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/17/2018) – A short trip down the 76 brought Chestnut Hill College to the University of the Sciences (USciences) for a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games at the McNeil Family Field. There, the Griffins earned their first sweep of the season, defeating the Devils 6-3 in the opener and 5-4 in the 10

Following a scoreless first inning, Chestnut Hill College (3-21, 3-14) tallied the first run of game one as a leadoff single from Sauer, one-out a wild pitch, a walk to sophomore designated player
Samantha Vogel (Beachwood, N.J.), and a walk to junior centerfielder
Marissa Maioran (Rockaway, N.J.) loading the bases for senior third baseman
Jocelyn Porrino (Lafayette Hill, Pa.). Porrino lifted a ball to right field to sacrifice home Sauer, 1-0, unfortunately, USciences (8-24, 5-13) managed to limit the damage with following pop-pout to second base. Chestnut Hill College made up for with three runs in the third inning, where junior left fielder
Ariel Magee (North Cape May, N.J.) led off with a single to left field and stole second base before junior short stop
Lily Winn (Los Angeles, Calif.) singled her home for the first Scarlet and Gold score of the frame, 2-0. After a Devil pitching change, Sauer homered to center field, plating two runs with her third four-bagger of the season, 4-0. USciences got one run back in the bottom of the frame, 4-1, but Winn and Riotte both singled home a run in the Griffin half of the fourth inning, 6-1, to give junior
Nichole Eberhard (Philadelphia, Pa.) more than enough insurance to secure her second win (2-8) of the season. She held the Devils to three runs on seven hits and seven walks, while striking out eight.
In game two, the Scarlet and Gold forged ahead with three runs in the third inning, 3-1. There, a leadoff walk to sophomore third baseman
Giovanna Lorine (Berwyn, Pa.), a sacrifice from freshman right fielder
Devon Horner (Mt. Laurel, N.J.), set the table for a two-out Winn triple and a Riotte double to right center. Chestnut Hill College added a run in the fourth inning, 4-1, but the Devils' three-run sixth inning evened the score at 4-4 heading to the latter frames.
The affair went scoreless in the final frame of regulation and the first two extras before Sauer's one-out double gave the Griffins an edge in the 10
th inning. Eberhard took care of the rest, earning her second win (3-8) of the day with three strike outs over two innings of scoreless relief.
