Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/20/2018) – Completing a twin bill from earlier this season, Chestnut Hill College welcomed Wilmington University back to campus their afternoon. The contest was competitive through five innings, but ended after the sixth inning as the Wildcats scored seven runs in the frame for a 10-1 win. Sophomore second baseman Alessandra Messina (Ambler, Pa.) and junior first baseman Alex Sauer (New Milford, N.J.) were responsible for the Scarlet Gold hits, while junior pitcher Nichole Eberhard (Philadelphia, Pa.) got the Griffins off to a good start.
     
The first inning looked promising for Chestnut Hill College (3-22, 3-15 CACC), who recorded the contest's first tally of the game in their first at-bat. A leadoff single from Messina, a walk to Sauer, and sacrifices from junior short stop Lily Winn (Los Angeles, Calif.) and center field by junior catcher Brielle Riotte (Elizabeth, N.J.) scored the run home, 1-0. Wilmington University (27-13, 13-4) tied Griffins in the second inning, 1-1, with pair of two-out hits and added two more runs in the fifth inning, 3-1, before finishing the Griffins with a seven-run sixth inning, 10-1. Eberhard (3-10) allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk, while striking out three in the initial 4.1 innings.
 
The Chestnut Hill College softball team go on the road for a pair of CACC contests tomorrow, Saturday, April 21, when they visit Concordia College (NY) for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
