Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 North Myrtle Beach, S.C. – (3/8/2019) – Chestnut Hill College completed their Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic today, Friday, March 8, with a series of games versus Ursuline College, Barton College, and Mansfield University. The Griffins opened the day with a 4-3 eight-inning victory over the Arrows, before successive games against the Bulldogs and Mountaineers (L, 0-8).

Chestnut Hill College (5-2) wasted no time against Ursuline College (1-8), using a first-inning leadoff single from sophomore centerfielder Devon Horner (Mt. Laurel, N.J.), a sacrifice bunt from junior third baseman Cailey Stevenson (Burbank, Calif.), a walk to senior left fielder Ariel Magee (North Cape May, N.J.), a double steal, and a single through the right side from senior shortstop Alessandra Messina (Ambler, Pa.) to put the first tally on the scoreboard, 1-0. The Griffins added to their lead in the third inning thanks a two-out double from Magee and a run-scoring Messina single to right field, 2-0. The Arrows and Griffins traded runs in the fourth inning, 3-1, before Ursuline College cut the difference in half with a run in the fifth inning, 3-2, and tied it in the sixth inning, 3-3. The difference maker eventually came in the first extra frame, where a leadoff walk from freshman designated player Lily Reid (Texas City, Texas), an Arrow error, and a walk-off single down the right field line from senior right fielder Alex Sauer (New Milford, N.J.) pushed a run across, 4-3. Messina (2-for-4) and senior catcher Brielle Riotte (Elizabeth, N.J.) (2-for-4) recorded two hits apiece; the latter finished with two runs-batted-in (RBI). Junior pitcher Kaley Wise (Hamilton, N.J.) earned the win (3-1), allowing a pair of earned runs on nine hits and a walk, while striking out three.

In the final contest of the day, and trip, a tough sixth inning allowed Mansfield University (6-2) to surpass Chestnut Hill College in an 8-0 conclusion. The affair was scoreless through four innings. In the fifth inning, the Mountaineers used a one-out walk and a two-out triple to right center to take the lead, 1-0. In the sixth inning, five Mansfield University hits and three Griffin errors extended the deficit to seven runs, 7-0. They added another tally in the seventh inning before closing out the Scarlet and Gold with a pair of strikeouts and fly to centerfield, 8-0. In the end, Chestnut Hill College recorded no hits as freshman Alexis Easling (Corning, N.Y.) (4-0) allowed only a third-inning walk to senior right fielder Marissa Maioran (Rockaway, N.J.), while striking out six.

Chestnut Hill College returns home to visit East Stroudsburg University for a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday, March 14.
