The Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team will play the second of three consecutive home games when they host the University of the District of Columbia on Tuesday night at Sorgenti Arena looking to extend their modest two-game winning streak.

The Series:
Tuesday's contest will be the eighth meeting between these two teams. UDC holds a 5-2 advantage and has won the last four contests. The last Chestnut Hill win came on November 28, 2015, 93-83 in Philadelphia at Jefferson University's Gallagher Center. The Griffins also won at home in 2014, defeating the Firebirds 99-97 in overtime.
Non-Conference Action:
The Griffins are 1-4 in non-conference games this season with their only win coming at home against bloomsburg University on November 17, 2021. Chestnut Hill has not played an East Coast Conference team yet this season. They have losses to two Northeast-10 schools (Pace, Adelphi) and a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference schools (Lock Haven and West Chester)

Four players scored double figures as the Chestnut Hill College men's basketball team held off a late rally by
Goldey-Beacom College to defeat the Lightning 73-68 Saturday afternoon at
Sorgenti Arena in Philadelphia.

MJ Iraldi led all scorers with 17 points (87-11 FG) while
James Rider IV came off the bench to add 13 points.Â
David Erebor and
Nigel Haughton each had ten points and a team-leading eight rebounds apiece.Â
Amir Warrick led the team with three assists.

Trevonn Pitts' layup with two minutes remaining in the game gave the Griffins an 11-point lead 70-59. The Lightning then scored the next six points to close the gap to five with 1:01 remaining.Â
Iraldi got an open layup at the 40-second mark to make it a three-possession game 72-65 and with the Lightning now forced to foul,
Haughton made one-of-two from the line to push the lead to eight 73-65 with just 26 seconds remaining.  Â
GBC's Nazim Derry added a three-point bucket with four seconds left to make the final score 73-68.
Iraldi Named to CACC Weekly Honor Roll for a Second Time

Iraldi was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (
CACC) Men's Basketball Weekly Honor roll for his performance in the Griffins' two games last week.
This week's honor marks the second time
Iraldi has been named to the conference weekly honor roll. He earned the honor for his performance during the second week of the season, ending November 21, 2021.
In leading the Griffins to their first 2-0 start in
CACC games since the 2011-12 season,
Iraldi scored 27 points while grabbing eight rebounds. The freshman small forward shot a team-best 52.6% from the field in Chestnut Hill's two games (10-19).
For the week,
Iraldi averaged 13.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and one steal while shooting 70% from the free throw line and 52.6% from the field.
Two honors last week for Warrick

Amir Warrick earned a pair of honors this week for his performance in the Griffins game at West Chester prior to Thanksgiving. On Monday he was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Honor Roll , while on Wednesday he was named to the Philadelphia Small College Basketball Association's Weekly Honor Roll.
Warrick led the team with 23 points and ten rebounds, recording his first double-double of the season.
The junior forward scored 14 of his 23 points in the second half and finished the game shooting 53% from the field, connecting on nine of 17 shots. Warrick also added three assists, three blocks and a steal
Dynamic Duo- Part II
Twice this season, the Griffins had two players score 20 or more points in a single game. Against West Chester,
Amir Warrick scored a team-high 23 points while
Nigel Haughton added 22. This marks the 15
th time since the 2014-15 season that Chestnut Hill has had at least two players score 20 or more points in a single game.

First Win
Chestnut Hill Head Coach J.J. Butler earned his first win as a head coach last Wednesday night as his Griffins defeated Bloomsburg University 76-69. Two newcomers
MJ Iraldi and
Nigel Haughton were the catalysts for the Griffins as was
David Erebor on defense. Iraldi and Haughton combined for 41 points while Erebor had four blocks and eight rebounds while also contributing 11 points.
Dynamic Duo
Chestnut Hill had two players scored 20 or more points in Wednesday night's win over Bloomsburg as
MJ Iraldi led the team with 21 points and
Nigel Haughton added 20.  This marks just the 14
th time since 2015 that the Griffins had at least two players score 20 or more points in the same game. (a span of 139 games)
The last time this feat occurred was on February 18, 2020 when three members of this year's squad,
Amir Warrick (28 points), Trevon Pitts (20), and James Rider (20) all reached the 20-point mark. Â
An Impressive Debut
Freshman
MJ Iraldi made eight of 11 shots from the field en route to 19 points in his collegiate debut Saturday against Adelphi. The following day, Iraldi made seven of 14 shots including three three-point baskets as he led the Griffins with 17 points in their 66-61 loss at Pace. Iraldi shot 56% from the field in the two games and 50% from beyond the arc (5-10). He also grabbed nine rebounds in the two games. Â
An Impressive Debut- Part II
Nigel Haughton made his Chestnut Hill College debut in the Griffins' season opener against Adelphi, scoring 24 points. The Towson University transfer connected on 10 of 12 shots from the field, including one three-point basket. Haughton also grabbed five rebounds and recorded three assists and two steals. He added 12 points and seven rebounds the next day in a 66-61 loss at Pace University.

Scouting the Firebirds
The Firebirds are 1-7 and have played five games on the road, losing all five. UDC's last win came on November 22 when the beat Georgian Court University 73-50 at home. UDC has lost their last three games.Â
Kenyon Stone leads the Firebirds averaging 13.8 points per game while shooting 50% from the field. He is also the team's leading rebounder at 7.4 rebounds/game. Tevin Curtis is averaging 11.5 points per game and 5.4 rebounds/game and is second on the team averaging 2.5 assists per game.

The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team fell to Bowie State 80-65, Saturday afternoon at home. The Firebirds fell to 1-7 on the season while the Bulldogs snagged their first win to improve 1-6 on the season.
Tevin Curtis registered a game-high 21 points going 7-15 from the field, 4-9 from behind the arc, and 3-4 from the foul line. Kenyon Stone registered 17 points, shooting 50% from the field and going a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Jahmir Marable-Williams rounded out the double-figure scorers contributing 10 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.
