Caporellie and Ramos Named to the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Women's Volleyball Team

Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball players Henielys Ramos and Mia Caporellie have been named to the 2022 PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Women's Volleyball Team. Caporellie and Ramos are among the eight players selected to this year's Academic All-Area women's volleyball Team. The academic all-area academic teams are voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area, an athlete must be in his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better. A student in graduate school must have at least a 3.30 grade point average in both undergraduate and graduate school (if not in first semester of graduate program).  

Caporellie and Ramos were also recently were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the first step towards a possible selection as an Academic All-America honoree.  The two stellar athletes also join Regina Trabosh '16 as the only three players to be selected to a Academic all-Area women's volleyball Team.

Ramos, a senior academically, recently completed her third season as a member of the Griffins volleyball program.  A right-side hitter, Ramos is a two-time all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honoring, garnering first team honors in 2022.   She led the Griffins to the CACC playoffs for first time since 2016 with 10 conference wins and 14 wins overall. Statistically, Ramos finished in the CACC this year in points (501); and third in kills (419), kills/set (3.88), aces (63), ace/set (0.53) and points/set (4.6).  In addition, Ramos set CHC single season records for kills; kills/set; aces; aces/set; total points; and point/set and finished the season as Chestnut Hill's all-time leader in kills/set (3.2); aces (125); aces/set (0.45) and points/set (3.77).

A health science major with minors in biology and psychology, Ramos is a two time member of the CACC Volleyball All-Academic Team and was inducted into Chi Alpha Omega, the National Student Athlete honor society in spring of 2022.  She is also a member of Sigma Zeta Honor Society and has earned Dean's List and Athletic Academic Honor Roll accolades in every semester as a student-athlete at Chestnut Hill.

Caporellie recently completed her second season as a member of the Griffins volleyball program.  She was named the CACC 2022 Setter of the Year following a record breaking season for Chestnut Hill.  The junior setter, led CACC in assists/set (10.06) and was second in total assists with 1,087, setting new Chestnut Hill single season standards for both.  She earned CACC Setter of the week honors four times and most recently was named to the D2CCA All-East Region team as a second team honoree, only the second player in program history to earn this honor. 

A business administration and management major with a minor in accounting, Caporellie has earned Dean's List and Athletic Academic Honor Roll accolades in every semester as a student-athlete at Chestnut Hill.

Caporellie and Ramos are joined on the Philadelphia Academic All-Area Women's Volleyball Team by Performer of the Year Jess Molen from Thomas Jefferson University;  Rowan University's Brooke Adams, Cabrini University's Gina Custer and Hannah Dalton, Haverford University's Taylor Jones, and Swarthmore University's Kaylee Zhang.
