Philadelphia, Pa - The final NCAA Division II East Region rankings released yesterday has the Chestnut Hill College Women's Basketball remaining at the no. 2 spot. This is the final ranking before the NCAA Tournament selections this coming Sunday. Chestnut Hill holds a 24-5 overall and in-region record following their CACC quarterfinal win over Caldwell on Tuesday, which was not included in determining the rankings.
The Griffins won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division with a 16-2 conference record last Saturday, defeating University of the Sciences. (15-3, #3 in ranking). Jefferson is the third CACC team listed in the rankings at #6. The team defeated Caldwell 82-66 Tuesday night at Sorgenti Arena and will face Jefferson on Saturday at Caldwell University at 5:00 p.m.
Eight teams will make the NCAA East Region Tournament held March 11-14. Three automatic bids will be awarded to the three conference tournament champions (Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, Northeast-10 Conference and East Coast Conference) and five teams will receive at-large berths based on the rankings.
