Andrew Dietz has added another post-season honor to his resume on Wednesday when he was named to the Division II conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Baseball All-East Region First Team. Voting for the D2CCCA All-Region teams are conducted by the region's sports information directors.
Dietz was selected as a Utility/pitcher as the senior was successful both on the mound and as a first baseman/designated hitter this season. He becomes just the third Chestnut Hill player to earn D2CCA Baseball All-Region First team honors and first since Eric Gilham was named to the first team in 2019. Dietz is also the seventh Griffins player overall to be earn a spot on one of the two D2CCA all-east region teams in the 15-year history of the awards program.
The senior pitcher/first baseman enjoyed the best season of his career at Chestnut Hill in 2022, finishing the season with a .424 batting average, the second highest single season mark in program history. His average is 20
th among all NCAA Division II baseball players this season. Dietz earned all-CACC accolades for the utility/pitcher position for the third time, having been named second team All-CACC in 2019 and 2021 before garnering first team honors this season. Offensively, Dietz led the CACC in on-base percentage (.514) while ranking third among the league leaders in stolen bases (21). He concludes his Griffins career as the program's all-time leader in hits (186), home runs (15), RBI (134) and doubles (45) while also setting a single season record with eight home runs.
On the mound, Dietz finished in the league with a 6-3 record and has thrown a league best five complete games. He ranks fifth in the league with 63 strikeouts and seventh with a 4.72 earned run average while throwing a league high 66.2 innings on the mound this season.
As a First Team honoree, Dietz is automatically nominated for the D2CCA All-American voting process. The 2022 D2CCA Baseball All-American Teams will be announced on June 1.
