Dietz and Evans Honored in Final CACC Weekly Awards for 2021-22

Chestnut Hill College Baseball Player Andrew Dietz was  named the Central Atlantic  Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in the Griffins final game of the season last week against Kutztown.

In addition freshman shortstop Connor Evans  (Hermitage, Pa.) was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts in last week's game against Kutztown.  This week's honors are the last weekly awards of the 2021-22 season.

Dietz (Warrington, Pa.) entered Tuesday's game against Kutztown with 183 career hits, two behind the Griffins' all time leader Ameir Uzzell who set the bar at 185 career hits last season.  Dietz recorded singles in two of his first three at-bats to tie Uzzell before leading off in the bottom half of the seventh inning with the Griffins trailing 11-8. 

The senior first baseman took the first pitch he saw and parked the ball over the rightfield fence for his eighth home run of the season and his record breaking 186th career hit.  His eight home runs this season is also a Griffins' single season record.  Dietz finished the game going 3-for-5 with the RBI. 

Dietz finishes his career as the Griffins' all-time leader in hits (186), home runs (15), RBI (134), doubles (45) and total bases (282).  His .424 batting average in the second highest single season mark in program history behind Evans who hit .440 this season as a freshman.

Evans also had three hits in the Kutztown game, all singles as he raised his average to a league leading .440 and his single season hit total to 66, the most ever by a Chestnut Hill rookie.   He also stole three bases to give him 21 on the season, tying for the team lead with Dietz.
