The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team earned their first win of the 2022-23 season Saturday afternoon, sweeping Kutztown University 7-0, giving Head Coach
Eric Gibson his first win as the Griffins' Women's Tennis Coach.
The Griffins improve to 1-1 overall. The golden Bears fall to 1-1.
The Griffins started the day with a sweep of the doubles competition to take the point
. Ali Isaac (Auburn, Calif.) and
Nele Haag (Wurzburg, Germany) started the run with a 60 win over Brenna Wendling and Jess Marks at #2 doubles.Â
Carlota Garcia Arguelles (Madrid, Spain) and
Romi Meirovich (Herzeliya, Israel) won a #1 doubles, 6-2 while
Lottie Allin (Derbyshire, England) and
Annika Wise (Canberra, Australia) scored a 6-1 win at #3 doubles.
Moving onto singles, Garcia Arguelles recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win over Claudia Makarski at #1 singles followed by Haag winning at #3 singles 6-0, 6-1 to make the score 3-0. Isaac then clinched the match win with a 6-0 , 6-1 win over Ava Lewis to give The Griffins a 4-0 lead.
Wise made the score 5-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win at #4 singles and Meirovich scored a 6-2, 6-2 win at #5 singles. Â
Claudia Rasilla (Madrid, Spain) closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles to improve to 2-0 on the season.
