Indianapolis, Ind.– For the second consecutive year, Chestnut Hill College earned recognition among elite academic company as one of 44 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) institutions to receive the Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence. The Presidents' Award honors NCAA athletic programs with four-year Academic Success Rates of 90 or greater. This year's honor also marks the fourth time the Griffins' athletic program has received the award.
The Griffins are tied for 39th in Division II for Academic Success Rate (ASR) at 90 percent (2013-16 cohorts). The Chestnut Hill College athletic program has been submitting ASR data to the NCAA since 2008-09. In the 13-year span from 2009-2023, the Griffins have compiled an average ASR of 87%. Chestnut Hill was among five programs from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference to earn the President's Award for Academic Excellence.
The Presidents' Award is given to schools that achieve a four-year ASR of 90 percent or higher. It is the 13
th year of the program. The ASR is the percentage of student-athletes who graduate within six years of initial collegiate enrollment and includes virtually all Division II student-athletes that participate in NCAA sponsored sports, including transfers and those not receiving athletic scholarships.
The NCAA and the federal government measure time to graduate within a six-year window of first-time enrollment. Thus, the graduation rates for the 2013-2016 cohorts would have been reported from 2020 to 2023.
Bentley and Saint Michael's were the top performers, earning an ASR of 99%. Biola, D'Youville, Hillsdale and Jefferson University rounded out the top six, each earning an ASR of 98%.
