Five members of the Chestnut Hill College Men's Lacrosse team, led by senior goalkeeper
Julius Sorino and senior defender
Daniel Grubb have been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-CACC Men's Lacrosse team in an announcement Tuesday morning by the conference office. The league's nine coaches voted on the all- conference teams.
Sorino and Grubb were voted the CACC goalkeeper of the Year and CACC Defensive Plyer of the Year respectively. Sorino has had a stellar season, leading the CACC in goals against average (7.21) and save percentage (62.7%), ranking second in the NCAA in both categories. He has also s allowed the fewest goals by a CACC goalkeeper this season (82), the third best mark in NCAA division II.
Grubb leads the team with 24 caused turnovers and a 1.85 caused turnovers/game average, ranking fourth and third in the CACC respectively. The two-time all-CACC honoree also contributed 38 ground balls and is a significant contributor to the Griffins' defense that has allowed the second fewest goals/game in the country (6.92)
Joining Sorino and Grubb as first Team honorees are attacker
Noah Hammon, and long stick defensive midfielder
Chase Snyder.
Kyle Gartenmayer also earned All-conference accolades and was selected as a second team honoree.
Hammon has scored a goal in every game this season and leads the team with 36 goals and 55 points. He has had seven multiple goal games this season including a seven-goal effort vs. Molloy. In the Griffins' final regular season game against Bridgeport, Hammon became the third fastest player in program history to reach 100 career points, tallying seven for the game to give him 101 in two seasons (28 games).
Snyder, with his selection to this year's All-CACC team becomes a three-time all-conference honoree. He is second on the team with 41 ground balls and ranks third on the team with 20 caused turnovers.
Gartenmayer returns to the all-conference team after being selected in 2022 but missing the latter half of last season with an injury. His 24 caused turnovers and 1.85 caused turonvers per game average ties him for the team lead along with Grubb. He has also picked up 24 ground balls on the season.
The Griffins earned the #2 seed for the upcoming CACC playoffs and will face a familiar foe in Georgian Court University at home on Wednesday. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m. at victory Feidl #1 in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
