Sydney Watts continued her stellar outdoor season breaking another school record as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Track and Field team competed at the Oscar Moore Invitational at Rowan University on Saturday.
Watts took home a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run, crossing the line with a time of 11:02.07, nearly a minute better than the college's old record set nine year's ago by Amy Lombard. Her record-breaking performance is her third in as many meets this season, having broken her own 5,000-meter mark in the opening meet of the season and lowering it a week later.
The senior runner now holds or is part of five school records, holding both the indoor and outdoor marks at 3,000 and 5,000 meters and is part of the Griffins indoor 4x800 record setting relay team.
In the field events, Erin McCarthy and Grace Mott placed 13 and 14th respectively in the javelin throw. McCarthy had a top throw of 23.83 meters (78'2"). Mott had a top throw of 23.29 meters (76'5").
The Griffins finished with five total points, placing 18th among the 29 programs competing at the event.
The women's track and field team will return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 18-19, 2025, when they compete at the Paul Donohue Invitational at Widener University.
