Griffins Have 95 Honorees as the D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards are Announced

Cleveland, Ohio - Chestnut Hill College had a total of 95 honorees on the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) 2024-25 Academic Achievement Awards list as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.  The Academic Achievement Awards, in its 18th year, is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.

The Griffins' 95 honorees are the second highest total ever recognized by the D2ADA surpassed only by the 100 from last year and slightly higher than the 89 athletes that were recognized after the 2022-23 academic year. Fourteen of the Griffins' 95 nominees were nominated in more than one sport.
 
Chestnut Hill's 95 honorees are the sixth highest total among the nine Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schools that submitted nominees.  Jefferson University and the University of Bridgeport led the way with 122 apiece.

In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution MUST BE a CURRENT dues-paying member of the D2 ADA.

Also, the student-athlete must:

  • have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work 
  • have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year

According to the D2ADA, for the first time since inception, there were more than 22,000 student-athletes recognized (22,740) from a record 202 institutions for the 2024-25 Academic Achievement Awards. This year's totals are the highest in the program's history.
 
Sixteen of the Chestnut Hill's 17 NCAA Division II programs were represented and produced at least two honorees with 13 of the 16 teams representing with four or more honorees.

Four Griffin athletic teams had at least eight honorees with the women's soccer team  leading the way with 12.  Baseball fielded 11 honorees while the men's soccer and women's softball team, producing eight honorees respectively.
