Crim Collects CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll Recognition with Historic Perimeter Play

New Haven, Conn. - (1/27/2020) – Sophomore guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) enjoyed a career performance in Tuesday’s (January 21) 76-72 victory over Thomas Jefferson University, hitting a program single-game record eight three pointers (8-of-12, .667) to finish the contest with a career-best 26 points. She followed her historic showcase with a 14-point effort in the Griffins’ 91-62 loss at Post University on Sunday, January 25, to garner her third appearance on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Report. Crim earned his first CACC Weekly Honor Roll recognition on November 11 and was named the CACC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week on December 16.

In their first meeting of the season, Chestnut Hill College (7-12, 6-4) got the best of Thomas Jefferson University (7-11, 5-3), using a 25-13 third-quarter to distance themselves just enough to capture a 76-72 CACC win over the Rams. Crim and Morgan Orloski (Bethlehem, Pa.) were the heroines of the affair; the former scored a Scarlet and Gold record eight three-point baskets (8-of-12, .667) in a career-best 26-point effort, while the latter scored six three-point baskets (6-of-8, .750) in an 18-point effort. The win was also the fourth straight for the Griffins and the first for Chestnut Hill College Head Coach Jim Connelly versus his former superior, Jefferson Head Coach Tom Shirley. All of Crim (8-of-13, .615) and Orloski's (6-of-10, .600) baskets came from beyond the arch; the former also made a pair of free throws (2-of-2, 1.000) and grabbed three rebounds, while the latter grabbed four rebounds and handed out a pair of assists.

Chestnut Hill College’s recent good fortune came to an end on Saturday, January 25, as the Griffins were mired behind a 61-19 rebounding disadvantage in a 91-62 CACC loss at Post University (13-4, 8-2). The Eagles used the extra possessions to grab a 49-31 halftime lead and pace the Scarlet and Gold by as many as 31 points, 76-45 (1:48), late in the third quarter. Sophomore forward Bri Hewlett (North Wales, Pa.) came off the bench for a team, season, and career-high 21 points. Her performance was complimented by a season-high 18 points from sophomore guard Rachael Millan (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) and a 14-point effort from Crim. Crim hit four (4-of-7, .571) from long range, staying hot from three-point territory while contributing three rebounds, an assist, and two steals to the Griffin effort.
