Chestnut Hill College Athletics

New Haven, CT – (4/6/2010) – A complete-game effort from junior Chris Lauber (Morton, PA) earned the Griffins’ pitcher an honorable mention among this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) award winners and helped Chestnut Hill College split their weekend doubleheader with Concordia College. Lauber allowed seven hits and an earned run as the Griffins defeat the Clippers 6-1 in game two of the conference twin bill.

Lauber collected his second win of the season (2-2) with a complete game effort in the second game against Concordia College on Saturday, April 3. He held the Clippers to one run on seven hits and three walks while striking out one. Lauber also provided two innings of scoreless relief in the Griffins’ loss at Alvernia University on March 31.

Lauber leads Chestnut Hill College (8-11, 6-2) in innings pitched (30.0) while carrying a 1.50 earned run average (2^nd in CACC). He has allowed five earned runs on 29 hits and nine walks while striking out 16. Lauber finished last season at 4-5 with a 4.33 earned run average; he struck out 46 in 54 innings pitched.

The baseball team continues their CACC schedule with a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader at the University of Sciences on Wednesday, April 7.
