Lites Listed As Honorable Mention for CACC Player of the Week

New Haven, CT – (3/12/2012) – Sophomore center fielder Desmond Lites (Philadelphia, PA) earned an honorable mention for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week award after helping the Chestnut Hill College to a 1-2 week with a .500 (6-for-12) batting average and three stolen bases (3-of-4, .750).
 
Chestnut Hill College (8-8, 1-1) lost a non-conference matchup with Wilmington University on Thursday, March 15, 10-7, before splitting a Saturday doubleheader with Post University on March 17. Lites was a key contributor in each contest; first going 3-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base the loss to the Wildcats, before going 3-for-9 in the Griffins doubleheader against the Eagles. Against the Wildcats, Lites singled and stole a base in the second inning, singled on a bunt to the pitcher in the fourth inning to load the bases in a four-run inning, and singled in the Griffin fifth inning. He stole two bases in the opener against the Eagles and then recorded one of five RBI-hits in a five-run third inning of game two. For the season, Lites is batting .406 (13-for-32), leading the Griffins and ranking third among his CACC peers. He has recorded eight runs and two runs-batted-in (RBI), while stealing seven bases in nine attempts (7-fo-9, .778).
