Covella Collects Second Straight CACC Honorable Mention

New Haven, CT – (3/14/2011) – Sophomore Nicole Covella (Vineland, NJ) topped Chestnut Hill College’s dominating 19-3 win over the University of Bridgeport on March 13, with five goals, four draws, and two caused turnovers. For her effort she was recognized for the second straight week as an honorable mention for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week award.

Chestnut Hill College (1-1) scored early and often to defeat the University of Bridgeport (0-2) for their first win of the season. The Griffins owned an 11-1 halftime lead before outscoring the Purple Knights 8-2 in the second half. Covella was the Griffins high scorer with five goals. Through two games, she leads the Griffins with ten goals. She has totaled 11 points in addition to collecting three ground balls, seven draws and two caused turnovers.Covella was an honorable mention for the CACC Player of the Week award last week, after providing five goals and an assist in a 16-10 loss to Mercy College on March 5.

The women’s lacrosse team begins their CACC schedule with their next contest; a 4:00 p.m. game at Georgian Court University on Tuesday, March 15.
