Daywalt Honored With CACC Player of the Week Award

New Haven, CT – (4/5/2011) – Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) has led Chestnut Hill College through the first half of their 2011 schedule and last week was no different as the Griffin’s junior second baseman batted .500 (9-for-18) in a 3-1 week. For his efforts, Daywalt was recognized as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week. He was an honorable mention for the week ending March 13.

Daywalt led Chestnut Hill College (8-13, 4-2) to a 3-1 record against Caldwell College and Concordia College this past week. He was 4-for-7 (.571) at Caldwell College on Monday, March 28, scoring four runs and recording one run-batted-in (RBI). He connected for a double and two triples to lead the Griffins to a 7-4 win in game two against the Cougars. Daywalt followed that with a 5-for-11 (.455) performance at Concordia College on Sunday, April 3. He scored three times and knocked in four runs in the doubleheader sweep.

Daywalt is powering the Griffins with a .338 (24-for-71) batting average. He also leads the team in runs scored (18) and slugging percentage (.437), while totaling eight RBI and eight stolen bases (8-of-11, 72.7%).

The baseball team continues their CACC schedule this week with conference doubleheader against the University of the Sciences and Dominican College.
