Fisher Earns CACC Weekly Honorable Roll Mention ForĀ 2nd Place Run At Misericordia University Invitational
Ā
New Haven, Conn. - (9/5/2017) – On Friday, September 1, the Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s cross country teams took their first run of the 2017 season at the Misericordia University Invitational. With all five scoring runners placing among the top-50 finishers, the Griffin women placed fourth of nine teams in the opening four-kilometer (4K) race with 129 points. Afterwards, a second place (2nd, 16:14.30) run by sophomore Zigmund Fisher (Chadds Ford, Pa.) powered the Griffin men to third (3rd of 9, 107 points) place finish in the five-kilometer (5K) competition. His performance garnered an Honor Roll mention on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Cross Country Report.

Fisher and fellow sophomore Aaron Morris (Philadelphia, Pa.) (11th, 17:08.10) bested Eric Barton’s ā€˜17 all-time 5K mark (5th, 17:55.70) from last year’s Philadelphia Metro Meet (9/10/16) by more than a minute, while classmate Jake DiCello (Pottsville, Pa.) finished (21st, 17:45.40) a little more than 10 seconds ahead of the record. The historic trio was supported by a 37th (18:40.40) place from sophomore Frank MacGregor (Collegeville, Pa.) and a 43rd (18:51.60) place run from sophomore Alex Lynch (Manchester, N.J.). Six additional Griffins competed in the event; seniors Adrian Calderon (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) (51st, 19:16.30) and Ediegeo Vanterpool II (Clementon, N.J.) (54th, 19:28.90), and freshman Jason Dutt (Easton, Pa.) (56th, 19:31.80) finished just out of the top-50, while sophomores Jonathan Boc (Jersey City, N.J.) (61st, 20:02.50) and Hunter Angle (Doylesburg, Pa.) (69th, 21:18.40), and junior James McKeith (Honey Brook, Pa.) (72nd, 22:13.60) rounded out Scarlet and Gold lineup.
