Lafayette Hill, PA – (4/22/2010) – Seton Hill University took a 4-0 lead in the first quarter to get the jump on Chestnut Hill College. The visiting Griffins eventually won the East Coast Conference (ECC) contest on a 14-6 final. Freshman midfielder D.J. Klusaritz (Allentown, PA) led the Griffins with three goals and an assist.
Senior midfielders Justin Menefee (Glen Burnie, MD) and Joel Zalesky (Carnegie, PA) directed Seton Hill University (7-3, 4-3) to a 7-2 halftime advantage, with Mark Winkelspecht (Laurys Station, PA) accounting for both Griffin goals. Klusaritz scored the first goal of the second half (5:40) and he would score twice more before finding freshman attack Shane Morlock (Whitby, Ontario) for the Griffins' final tally. Unfortunately, Seton Hill University (SHU) still outscored the Griffins 7-4 in the closing half, to win 14-6.
Zalesky and sophomore midfielder Peter Hilton (Gibsonia, PA) helped SHU control the contest with a combined 15-of-22 performance on face-offs. Hilton also collected three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Freshman goalie Dakota Maurer (Lititz, PA) made 20 saves and harnessed ten ground balls despite taking the loss (3-6) for Chestnut Hill College (4-9, 0-8). He was supported defensively by freshman defenseman Tom Carfagna (Laurys Station, PA) who collected three ground balls and caused three turnovers.
The men's lacrosse team continues ECC play with a trip to Dowling College for a 7:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, May 1.
