Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.) was nearly unstoppable with his five goals, four assists, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers headlining an impressive performance by the Griffins.
Dambach set up the first Chestnut Hill College (4-5, 3-3) goal when he found senior midfielder
Mark Winkelspecht (Laurys Station, Pa.) for a score at 13:02. Dominican College (1-10, 0-5) had an immediate answer, 1-1 at 12:31, but they could not keep up with the Griffins pace as Dambach scores twice and senior attack
Michael Melnychenko (St. Catharines, Ontario) once in a 4-1 opening frame. From there, the Griffins outscored the Chargers 8-3 in the second quarter and 8-4 in the second half to enjoy a 12-goal triumph.
Freshman attacks Connor Reeves (Tappan, N.Y.) and Theodore Wright (Copiague, N.Y.) led the Chargers production; Reeves totaled four goals and six ground balls while Wright supplied five assists and caused a turnover.
Dambach's nine-point offering fueled the Griffins offensive outburst. Melnychenko and Winkelspecht totaled five points apiece; Melnychenko scoring four goals and supplying an assist, in addition to four ground balls and two caused turnovers while Winkelspecht scored three and set up two more in excess of six ground balls and two caused turnovers. Joseph Donnelly (Newtown Square, Pa.) and freshman
Thomas McDermott (Holms, Pa.) took turns in goal with Donnelly (4-5) recording ten saves and three ground balls in the opening 39:10 and McDermott totaling five saves in the closing 20:50.
The men's lacrosse team will briefly break from ECC play to host a future member, Post University in a 7:00 contest on Tuesday, April 15.
