Box Score Waterbury, Conn. – (9/27/2014) – Post University handed Chestnut Hill College their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss of the season with their 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-20) victory in this afternoon's league match. The Eagles got  off to a slow start, but eventually found their mark, spotting ten aces to deny the Griffins valiant effort.

The opening set got off to a sluggish start with Post University (6-6, 2-1) getting themselves in and out of trouble before separating from Chestnut Hill College (8-8, 3-2) for a 25-19 win. The first five points of the match came on Eagle execution or Eagle error, yet they still led the Griffins by a 3-2 edge before finding their stride for an 11-5 edge. Despite a Griffin timeout the Eagles extended their advantage to as many as ten points, 22-12, before a  late rally behind sophomore outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) cut the final margin to six point, 25-19. The Griffins paced the Eagles to a 7-7 tie in the second set. The frame would stay close until the Eagles grabbed a 16-14 edge and senior setter Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) rallied them for a five-point run (21-14) that carried them to a 25-16 win, 2-0. In the third set, played moved along quickly but competitively as the Eagles led the Griffins to a 22-20 spread. Slyktina delivered the final three points, setting up her outside hitters, senior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) and sophomore Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.), before killing a point of her own to end the set, 25-20, and the match, 3-0.

Wilman led the Eagles up front with 11 kills. Slyktina scored seven of her own in addition to providing 34 assists, four aces, three digs, and a block. Sophomore middle hitter Skyler German (Kansas City, Mo.) helped on both side of the net with ten kills, two aces, eight digs, and two blocks.

Junior Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.) totaled 11 kills on a .259 (11K-4E-27TA) hitting percentage and McBride finished with nine kills on a .263 (9K-4E-19TA) hitting percentage, but the Griffins could not get an edge on the Eagles. Junior setter Alyssa Tamsing (Ventura, Calif.) made 21 assists and three digs while freshman middle hitter Melissa Shunk (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) and sophomore libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) anchored the Griffins defensive effort with four blocks and nine digs, respectively.
