Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (12/12/2015) – Sorgenti Arena was filled with the Scarlet and Gold faithful one more time before the New Year as Chestnut Hill College hosted cross-Henry rival Philadelphia University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tilt this afternoon. The high-paced Griffins ran their offense efficiently in the first half, staking a 32-30 advantage on the sophomore drive and kick combo of guard Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) and forward Edward McWade (Wildwood, N.J.). Yet a slow start to the second half set the stage for a Ram run that lost the Griffins in a 15-point final, 69-54.

Isaac gashed the Philadelphia University (9-2, 4-2) defense with high-octane drives to the bucket, while the undersized McWade got the better of the Rams' seven-footer, senior center Peter Alexis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.), in the opening half. With six ties and six lead changes, the beginning stanza was a see-saw series that left Chestnut Hill College (3-6, 1-2) up seven points, 30-23, on a McWade three-pointer with 5:26 remaining. But Philadelphia University knocked the margin back to two points by the halftime break, using a couple key rebounds to outscore the Griffins 7-2 in the last five minutes.

The Rams opened the second-half scoring with a three-point play from sophomore forward Eric Long (Bronx, N.Y.) that ignited them for a 21-10 run and left the contest in their favor, 51-42, on a pair of free throws from senior forward T.J. Huggins (Alexandria, Va.) at 8:35. A brief flash from senior guard Luke Dickson (Pitman, N.J.) and a couple for Isaac free throws returned the spread to just four points, 51-47, only 40 seconds later (7:50), but the Griffin edge was lost and never found again in a late storm of Ram offense that separated the visitors for a 15-point league victory, 69-54.

Despite playing point, Huggins led the Rams in rebounds (12) and served as one of four in double figures with 11 points. Alexis totaled a team-high 21 points in addition to six rebounds, an assist, and a block, while junior guard Brendan Kilpatrick (Norristown, Pa.) and sophomore guard Kaison Randolph (Trenton, N.J.) chipped in with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Kilpatrick added four rebounds, six assists, a block, and a steal to his offensive production.

Isaac was 8-of-15 (.533) from the floor and 2-of-2 (1.000) from the free throw line while collecting five rebounds, two assists, and a block in an 18-point performance. McWade totaled 15 points in addition to six rebounds, and two assists, while Dickson finished with 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Senior captain Noel Hightower (Easton, Pa.) offered his standard with a point, a team-high seven rebounds, two assists, a block, and three steals.

The Griffins' next CACC challenge takes place at Wilmington University on Wednesday, December 16, when they tip-off against the Wildcats in an 8:00 p.m. contest.
