Box Score Springfield, Mass. - (12/19/2015) – Senior forward
Noel Hightower (Easton, Pa.) and sophomore forward
Edward McWade (Wildwood, N.J.) ensured Chestnut Hill College a 45-35 rebounding advantage, but a more efficient American International College (AIC) offense (43..4%-36.5%) hit a couple more three point baskets and got to the free throw line more frequently in a 74-63 victory over the Griffins. McWade recorded his second straight double-double, pairing his team-high 17 points with 11 rebounds while Hightower snared a team-high 12 rebounds in addition to seven points, two assists, a block, and a steal.
It was Hightower's tenacious play on the glass that kept Chestnut Hill College (4-7) in the contest at the start as the Griffin captain hauled in 11 of his dozen rebounds in the opening half. The effort kept the deficit in single digits as AIC's (3-7) lead cracked double digits, 27-16, with 2:48 to play in the frame. A balanced Yellow Jacket contribution preserved the home team a nine-point, 30-21, halftime lead and once separated, the Griffins had trouble gaining ground on AIC who still led by seven points, 58-51, after a pair of free throws from senior guard
Luke Dickson (Pitman, N.J.) at 6:36. Unfortunately, Chestnut Hill College would get no closer as the home team outscored them 16-12 the rest of the way in a 74-63 final.
Senior guard Cameron Dobbs (Albany, N.Y.) led all scorers with 22 points. He also grabbed a rebound while recording two assists and a steal. Two other Yellow Jackets joined him in double figures, namely senior guard Trahmier Burrell (Albany, N.Y.) and junior guard Juwan Moody (Pontiac, Mich.), who respectively provided 13 and 10 points. Burrell also recorded eight rebounds and four assists.
Dickson and backcourt partner, sophomore guard
Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.), fed off rebounding effort of Hightower and McWade, teaming for 27 points. Dickson totaled 15 of that, hitting three (3-of-11, .273) of his four field goals (4-of-11, .364) from long range while grabbing two rebounds and providing two assists. Isaac supplied four assists, four rebounds, and a steal in addition to his scoring. Junior forward
Gerald Evariste (Philadelphia, Pa.) pitched in on the Griffins rebounding effort with 11 caroms, seven offensively, while scoring eight points and recording two blocks.
