Box Score Lakewood, N.J. – (5/7/2016) – The #2 Chestnut Hill College women's lacrosse team earned themselves a chance at revenge and the league crown with today's 14-10 Central Atlantic College Conference (CACC) Semifinal victory over #3 Georgian Court University. The Griffins won a game of runs with senior midfielder Emorie Keimig (Freeland, Md.) scoring the game's first two tallies before igniting the Scarlet and Gold on a triumphant second-half streak that separated them for victory. Keimig scored five goals in all and totaled seven points, adding two assists, a ground ball, two draws, and a caused turnover to her shooting success. The win qualifies the Griffins for tomorrow's CACC Championship Final, where they will rematch #1 Philadelphia University for the league title.

The well-played, competitive semifinal saw just 21 turnovers between the two sides. Keimig's opening goals gave way to a three-score streak from Georgian Court University (7-12) that put Chestnut Hill College (11-7) in retaliation mode against an early 3-2 deficit (18:19). The motivation inspired the Scarlet and Gold for a three-goal run of their own; the last two came on free position shots and reestablished the Griffins as the leader in a 5-3 spread. Another exchange of scores kept Chestnut Hill College ahead at intermission, 6-5, before a mid-second half roll propelled them to an insurmountable 13-8 advantage over the Lions. The avalanche began with a Keimig free position goal that tied the contest at 7-7 with 22:22 remaining. The slide continued with a score from junior attack Lea Sanders (North Merrick, N.Y.) (8-7 at 21:28) and succeeding contributions from junior midfielder Jacklyn O'Leary (East Meadow, N.Y.), sophomore attack Julia Galantich (Clinton Corners, N.Y.), Samantha Herron (Cinnaminson, N.J.), and freshman midfielder Julia Reinert (Bridgeport, Pa.) that precipitated a four-goal victory, 14-10.

Senior attack Melissa Williams (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) did all she could to derail the Griffins journey to the championship. She scored four of her five goal in the second half and added four ground balls, a draw, and a caused turnover to her Lion-leading effort. She got some help from her classmates, midfielder Callie Brown (Toms Rivers, N.J.) and attack Silvetta Agosto (Trenton, N.J.), who combined for three goals, three assists, two ground balls, three draws, and a caused turnover. The Lions' goalkeeper, senior Stephanie Lehner (Howell, N.J.) made five saves in the loss (7-12).

In support of Keimig's seven-point show, Reinert offered the third hat trick of her rookie campaign while Sanders and Herron each offered two tallies Herron assisted Sanders on one her scores and also hustled to two draw controls. O[Leary and Galantich accounted for the remaining Scarlet and Gold scores while a stingy Griffin defense, composed of sophomores Gillian Wixted (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Jaida Zabala (East Meadow, N.Y.), and senior Courtney Weidner (Philadelphia, Pa.) helped junior goalkeeper Katie Joe Lang (Manassas, Va.) reduce the Lions' 28 shots to just 10 scores. She collected the win (11-7) with 11 saves in her third straight game of double digit stops.

The opening draw of tomorrow's, Sunday, May 8, CACC Championship Final, at Georgian Court University, is set for 12:00 p.m.
