Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) made the most of the opportunity, fielding a high Klusaritz pass and sending it to the back of the Purple Knight goal just before time ran out, 5-4 (0:01).
After the break, the offenses struggled once again. But this time, only St. Michael's College was only team to produce, adding to their lead at 10:05 (6-4) of the third quarter and 12:45 (7-4) of the fourth quarter on man-up opportunities. Chestnut Hill College was not able to recover from their shorthanded sessions, leaving the Purple Knights to the three-goal victory, 7-4.
Senior midfielder Charlie Murphy (Duxbury, Mass.) led St. Michael's College with three goals and three ground balls. Four other Purple Knights accounted for the other four goals, while sophomore midfielder Justin Richmond (New Market, Md.) and senior face-off Dan Dromeshauser (Norwell, Mass.) combined to go 5-of-13 (.385) on the draws. In goal, senior Jake Sonberg (Bedford, N.H.) (1-2) totaled a dozen (12) saves and three ground balls.
