Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (3/6/2018) – Staying ahead of the impending nor'easter, Chestnut Hill College and Ohio Valley University met this evening at the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium. A pair of goals from senior attack
Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.) helped the Griffins establish a 3-1 first-quarter lead, but a 6-1 Fighting Scot second quarter heightened the atmosphere heading to the latter half. There, Ohio Valley University sat on their 7-4 lead, surrendering a third-quarter tally to Klusaritz, 7-5, before the Scarlet and Gold's fourth-quarter heroics reversed fortunes.
Chestnut Hill College (1-2) established a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter with senior medifielder
Joshua Pope (Schnecksville, Pa.) scoring the match's first tally at 12:56, 1-0, and Klusaritz netting the next two on a man-up feed from junior attack
Casey Brown (Havre de Grace, Md.) (2-0, 11:41 1QTR) and a lead from freshman midfielder
J.R. Howell (East Meadow, N.Y.) (3-0, 10:27 1QTR). Ohio Valley University got one back before the end of the first quarter, 3-1. But their statement came in the second quarter, where they first gained a 4-3 advantage and broke form a 4-4 tie to own a 7-4 halftime advantage.
The Fighting Scots approached the second half hoping to hold the ball for the full 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the stall kept them close enough for a third-quarter Klusaritz tally (7-5, 9:18 3QTR) and a rush of early fourth-quarter goals that returned Chestnut Hill College to prominence. Pope netted the first, unassisted at 14:06, 7-6. On an assist from junior long stick midfielder
John Bennett (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.), Klusaritz tied the affair, 7-7, at 13:57. And at 8:12, senior midfielder
Gerard Lyle (Baldwin, N.Y.) provided the go-ahead goal, 8-7. Freshman midfielder
Mickey Holland (Brick, N.J.) added the game-winner – the first goal of his collegiate career – at 7:06 and it came in handy as a Fighting Scot score made it a one-goal game, 9-8, heading to the final five minutes (5:58). Fortunately, sophomore goalkeeper
Stephen Hogan Jr. (Doylestown, Pa.) and the Chestnut Hill College defense fended off all of Ohio Valley University's fleeting attempts to preserve the first Scarlet and Gold win under Head Coach
Mike Terranova.
Freshman midfielder Daire Newbrough (Waterloo, Ontario) led Ohio Valley University with four points (2 goals and 2 assists) and three ground balls, while junior midfielder Keith Parkman II (San Diego, Calif) added two goals, seven ground balls, and one caused turnover. Junior medifielder Andrew Bolt (Lusby, Md.), junior attack Austin Andryshak (Horseheads, N.Y.), sophomore attack Kyle Dunklee (Houston, Texas), and sophomore attack Drew Braden (Wooster, Ohio) each contributed one goal for the Fighting Scots. In goal, sophomore Nehemiah Hofer (Littleton, Colo.) (1-3) totaled five saves and recovered three ground balls.
Klusaritz led Chestnut Hill College with five goals. Pope followed with two goals and four ground balls. Sophomore
Blake Turner (Tampa, Fla.) won 14-of-19 (.737) face-offs and secured four ground balls, while senior
Matthew Pedrick (New Milford, N.J.) and sophomore
Stephen Hogan Jr. (Doylestown, Pa.) split time in goal. Pedrick made three saves in the first half and Hogan totaled nine saves in the second. Both recovered one ground ball.
