Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/7/2018) – Dominican College scored the first goal of this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's lacrosse matchup, but the Chargers' spark was quickly extinguished by Chestnut Hill College's overpowering offense in a 14-9 Griffin victory. Freshman attack
J.R. Howell (East Meadow, N.Y.) and sophomore attack
Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) scored three goals apiece to lead the Scarlet and Gold, who saw nine different Griffins contribute to the final score.
After Dominican College's (1-9, 0-1) opening tally, Chestnut Hill College (4-6, 1-0) and asserted themselves on the friendly confines of the Campus Field. The Griffins scored four of the next six scores to end the first quarter with a 4-3 advantage. They added to their edge in the second quarter, where a Wilden man-up goal ignited a three-goal run that left Chestnut Hill College up 7-3 with 10 minutes (10:06) remaining in the half. The Chargers interrupted the streak at 7:27 (7-4), but Wilden's third goal reestablished the Griffins' four-goal, 8-4, cushion before intermission.
Dominican College logged the first goal of the second half as well, 8-5 (11:45), but Chestnut Hill College immediately responded with four unanswered goals including a scoop and score from by sophomore faceoff
Blake Turner (Tampa, Fla.) (9-5, 11:39) and a coast to coast tally from senior defenseman
Kyle Newman (Plainsboro, N.J.) (11-5, 4:36); a career first for the former and a season first for the latter. The Scarlet and Gold streak ended the quarter on a 12-5 margin, which served as enough insurance to outlast the Charger's 4-2 fourth-quarter rally, 15-9.
Senior midfielder Ryan Wiberly (Setauket, N.Y.), freshman midfielder Christian Hernandez (Farmingdale, N.Y.), and sophomore attack Michael Reyes (East Meadow, N.Y.) were the Chargers' top performers with two goals and two assists each. In addition to Howell and Wilden's three-goal efforts, the Griffins received a four-point (2 goals, 2 assists) performance from senior attack
Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.). Howell added three ground balls to his scores, while Wilden added an assist, two ground balls, and a caused turnover to his.
