Elizabethtown, Pa. - (4/27/2019) – Chestnut Hill College placed 10
th of 14 team (13 points) at Elizabethtown University's Blue Jay Tune Up thanks to the scoring efforts of senior
Erica Waleski (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), senior
Makenzie Hooven (Philadelphia, Pa.), and sophomore
Irene Canizares-Llull (Islas Baleares, Spain). Waleski ran second in the 800-Meter and scored eight points with her time of 2:24.93, Hooven's sixth place time of 5:16.07 earned the Griffins three points in the 1,500-Meter, while Canizares-Llull placed seventh in the 400-Meter to contribute two points to the Scarlet and Gold's success.
Chestnut Hill College also enjoyed solid field performances from seniors
Laura Lupin (Danielsville, Pa.) and
Samaria Turner (Coatesville, Pa.), who competed in the Javelin, Shot Put, and Discus events. Lupin placed 11
th in the Javelin with a throw of 27.93 meters. Meanwhile, Turner threw the Discus 24.37 meters to place 13
th in the event. Both competed in the Shot Put; Turner placed 13
th with a throw of 9.10 meters, while Lupin placed 17
th with a throw of 8.25 meters.
But the Griffins score all of their points on the track. There, Waleski's eight-point effort in the 800-Meter was supported by a 17
th place (2:42.20) finish from senior
Kelly Bradley (Philadelphia, Pa.). In addition to her two points in the 400-Meter, Canizares-Llull also ran 13
th (28.66) in the 200-Meter.
The Chestnut Hill College women's track and field team competes next on Sunday, May 5, when they travel to Georgian Court University for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships.
